Saturday’s 1-1 tie between Chelsea and Manchester City ended the former’s two-month winning streak at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite having won their previous eleven games across all competitions, City was forced to accept a point from the club that was positioned tenth in the Premier League.
Late in the first half, Raheem Sterling gave Chelsea the lead over his old team, and in the 83rd, Rodri scored a goal to tie the score.
With four points separating them from leaders Liverpool, City now sits third in the Premier League.
Man-of-the-match Erling Haaland missed seven of his nine attempts at goal, giving City enough opportunities to defeat Chelsea handily.
Djordje Petrovic of Chelsea turned away the other two tries by Haaland.
Ederson was significantly busier at the other end than Petrovic, who made a total of four saves.
Five of Chelsea’s nine shots were saved by Ederson. Out of the 31 shots that City took, just five found the goal.
A question regarding Haaland’s poor day in front of goal was posed to Pep Guardiola following the match.
Funny enough, he told Sky Sports in response, “I can’t give Erling too much advise because I played for 11 years and scored 11 goals. He will score on the following one.”
When City plays Brentford on Tuesday, that match might be the next.
