“Nice to hear”: 16-goal player charmed by Aston Villa connections, but club turned down a £20 million bid

The brilliant Dutchman isn’t shown any signs of feeling pressed to succeed in light of persistent transfer rumors.

In addition to being Leeds United’s best player right now, Crysencio Summerville is a front-runner for Player of the Year in the Championship. The winger leads the second-tier with 16 goals in 32 games, and that doesn’t even account for the nine assists he has provided for his appreciative Elland Road teammates.

With figures like these, it should come as no surprise that the division above is showing interest in Summerville. Aston Villa has reportedly been pursuing the deft 22-year-old for some time, according to Fabrizio Romano, while Leeds turned down Burnley’s overtures for £20 million late in the summer.

In an interview with Voetbal Primeur, Summerville addressed the rumors about Aston Villa, saying he saw them as a compliment. However, he stressed that nothing would take his focus away from Leeds’ pursuit of an automatic promotion berth, which is his top objective.

I occasionally receive a few items from articles that friends and family give me. Personally, I don’t look at it all that much. Summerville says, “I’m a boy who works hard first and looks at it later.”

During our meetings, I occasionally learn something new from my agents. That’s good to hear, I believe. It tells me that I’m headed in the right direction and that things are going smoothly.
