Crystal Palace hit the jackpot with their “irreplaceable” star as his value skyrockets.

Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last four Premier League games, picking up six points from a possible 12. With draws against Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Manchester City, along with a win over Ipswich, Oliver Glasner’s side has climbed out of the relegation zone to sit 17th. One standout player during this run has been Daniel Munoz, who has become “irreplaceable” in Glasner’s system, according to journalist Dom Smith.

Daniel Munoz’s Impact

Munoz has been in exceptional form, scoring twice recently, including a stunning goal against Manchester City. His standout performance came against Newcastle, where he scored a 94th-minute equalizer, won 12 of 13 ground duels, and made 11 tackles. Tasked with holding the width, joining attacks, and tracking back to form a compact backline, Munoz has thrived in a demanding wing-back role.

Glasner praised Munoz’s versatility and attacking impact, labeling his goal against City as “amazing.” Such a specialist role often drives up player value, but Palace struck gold by signing Munoz from Genk in January 2024 for just £6.9m. Since then, his market value has tripled to around £19m, per Transfermarkt.

Comparing Munoz and Mitchell

Munoz and fellow full-back Tyrick Mitchell bring contrasting strengths to Palace’s system. While Mitchell excels in progressive carries and creating chances, Munoz is the more direct attacking threat, scoring more goals and generating higher xG. Both are integral on the defensive end, combining industry and work rate to support Glasner’s tactics.

As Palace look to extend their unbeaten streak and climb further up the table, the performances of their wing-backs, particularly Munoz, will be pivotal.
