Tottenham may offload Yves Bissouma in 2025
Tottenham’s 5-0 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium has provided a much-needed boost for Ange Postecoglou. The win, their first in six matches across all competitions, saw Spurs dominate, scoring five goals in the first half alone. Such a comprehensive win was crucial for restoring confidence ahead of tough matches against Manchester United and Liverpool.
While the win ends a tough run, it’s clear that Tottenham still has work to do if they aim to challenge for a top-four finish. New signings are needed, and to make room for these additions, the club may look to offload some players in 2025. One player potentially on the chopping block is Yves Bissouma.
John Wenham, the owner of the Spurs podcast *Lilywhite Rose*, believes chairman Daniel Levy could be willing to accept a £9 million loss on Bissouma. According to Wenham, for Tottenham to move the midfielder, there must be a club genuinely interested in signing him, but Bissouma’s high wages could make it difficult.
Tottenham paid £25 million for Bissouma in the summer of 2022, but the 28-year-old has not lived up to expectations at Spurs. He has struggled with consistency both on and off the pitch, with a particularly poor performance in the 4-3 loss to Chelsea, where he conceded a penalty. With only one year left on his contract in 2025, Tottenham may have to accept a significant loss when selling Bissouma, but it’s likely they will want a reasonable fee for him.
