Chrissy Teigen faced online trolling after appearing with husband John Legend at the Arsenal vs. Ipswich game, sporting a Chelsea shirt.
Chrissy Teigen Fires Back at Critics Over Arsenal Match Appearance
Chrissy Teigen has responded to backlash from football fans after attending the Arsenal vs. Ipswich Town match wearing a Chelsea shirt. The 39-year-old model was joined by her husband, singer John Legend, and their children, but the couple’s post-match interview with Prime Sport stirred controversy. Fans questioned their connection to football and their understanding of the sport.
Teigen didn’t take the criticism lightly. In a series of Instagram Stories, she addressed her detractors with humor and defiance. Lying in bed, she said, “I’m currently getting roasted for being the world’s biggest soccer fan. Everybody’s jealous because I’m the biggest fan and they’re not.”
In a follow-up clip, she doubled down, saying, “You know who the biggest ‘n**s and t***s’ are? The people who don’t like soccer as much as I do.” To further prove her dedication, Chrissy shared a throwback photo of herself in a football kit, pointing out the word “Pro” in the description. She quipped, “Does this look like the face of someone who doesn’t know soccer?”
Divisive Post-Match Interview
During the interview, John Legend revealed it was their first Premier League match. “This was so fun. We’re here for the holidays, and we’re having a great time. My friends told me Arsenal would win easily, but it was a closer match than we thought,” he said.
Chrissy explained her choice of a Chelsea shirt, admitting some confusion about the teams. “I love an underdog. When you said Chelsea, I was like, is Chelsea Ipswich? I don’t know,” she confessed.
John also shared their experience with football back home: “We go to some LA soccer games occasionally. But this, this is where real football is played.” Chrissy added, “We feel spoiled to be here, especially as people who don’t understand the game and nuances as much as others.”
John wrapped up the interview by praising the atmosphere: “We loved the songs. I was trying to figure out what everyone was singing the whole game. The crowd was so in sync.”
Teigen’s unapologetic humor and candid approach seem to have turned a divisive moment into another memorable chapter of her public persona.
