Crystal Palace Set to Speed Up Pursuit of ‘Excellent’ Talent

Crystal Palace are showing interest in Slavia Prague defender El Hadji Malick Diouf ahead of the January transfer window, reports *MailOnline*. The club is prioritizing the addition of a left-sided wing-back for manager Oliver Glasner and sees Diouf as a key target as the market prepares to reopen in early 2025.

The 20-year-old joined Slavia Prague from Tromsø in January and has been in standout form in the Czech league, contributing six goals and three assists in 18 appearances. His rapid progress has caught Palace’s attention, with the club reportedly ready to step up their pursuit of the versatile defender to provide competition for Tyrick Mitchell.

Diouf’s talent has also been recognized internationally. The Senegalese defender made his senior debut for the national team in September and has since earned three more caps, further boosting his reputation.

In addition to Diouf, Palace are eyeing reinforcements in attack to strengthen Glasner’s squad for the second half of the Premier League season, according to *GIVEMESPORT*. The Eagles have struggled to replace Michael Olise, who left for Bayern Munich in the summer, and are aiming to add more firepower upfront despite bringing in Eddie Nketiah and Ismaila Sarr earlier in the season.

Securing the futures of key players like Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, and Adam Wharton remains a priority, especially after the departures of Olise and Joachim Andersen negatively impacted the squad.

With just 20 goals in their first 19 league matches, Palace are the fourth-lowest-scoring team in the Premier League, ahead of only Everton, Ipswich Town, and Southampton. Glasner’s side recently secured a 2-1 victory over Southampton and will next face Chelsea at Selhurst Park before hosting Stockport County in the FA Cup third round in January.
