In the race to capture Kylian Mbappe, Manchester City is reportedly ready to go above and beyond to beat Real Madrid.
When his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current campaign, the 25-year-old is said to have notified the team that he will be leaving after seven years.
Mbappe has won 13 trophies with the French powerhouse PSG to date, including five Ligue 1 crowns. He is the team’s all-time top scorer with 244 goals in 291 appearances across all competitions.
The Frenchman who won the 2018 World Cup was benched for PSG’s Ligue 1 away encounter against Nantes last weekend due to rumors that he intended to leave the team. However, he entered the game in the second half and scored a penalty as PSG won 2-0 at Stade de la Beaujoire.
Over the past few years, Mbappe’s name has been frequently associated with a move to Real Madrid, and the La Liga leaders are seen to be the front-runners to sign the striker this summer.
The attacker will reportedly sign a five-year contract with Los Blancos, and club president Florentino Perez reportedly told first team players that he would be leaving on a free transfer this summer to join Santiago Bernabeu.
However, DefensaCentral, via Fichajes, adds that Man City will “do everything possible” to win the race for Mbappe’s signature, suggesting that Real Madrid may have fierce opposition from the Citizens to complete the deal.
Mbappe’s agents are rumored to have already visited with Man City officials, and it is reported that the Premier League winners are prepared to pay the striker more than Real Madrid in order to obtain his services.
According to the claim, Pep Guardiola’s team is even willing to offer Mbappe a substantial signing-on bonus and surpass fellow attacker Erling Haaland, who is reportedly paid approximately £400,000 per week, as the highest-paid player at the club.
Mbappe is rumored to have dreams of playing for Real Madrid, but it’s possible that Man City’s intense desire to entice him to the Etihad Stadium may ultimately determine his future professional transfer.
With five Premier League titles under their belt, Man City has established itself as a formidable force in England. This season, they are aiming to capture a record-tying fourth straight top-flight title.
The club won a historic treble under Guardiola’s leadership last season, including their first-ever Champions League victory. The Citizens are eager to build on their success in Europe this coming season, and they hope that their aspirations will continue to draw the best players in the world, like Mbappe, to the Etihad.
At the end of the season, Mbappe—who has also been linked to teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United—will probably make a public statement regarding his future. PSG is now fighting on three fronts.
